The Danish Clock Museum, Århus

I spent a happy hour today pottering about the Danish Clock Museum in the Old Town, Århus. The Museum consists of an original clock shop and clockmakers workshop from the mid 1800s, as well as an exhibition of about 100 of the approximately 15000 historic clocks belonging to the museum. Particularly interesting were the tower clocks with their exposed escapements, and a number of especially fine cabinet clocks.

Photos taken with an iPhone 3, 1.3mP using the Hipstamatic app (BlackKeys B+W film, John S lens) under poor lighting conditions. The special effect achieved here recreates very well the rather ghostly feeling of the workshops and the ancient clocks, whispering the secrets of their makers in the dusky gloom of a winters evening.
